Exhibition space was fully booked despite expansion
Although the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai) is moving to the new 400,000 square-meter National Center for Exhibition and Convention, exhibition spaces was in demand. From April 20 to 29, 2015, all the big names in the automotive industry will be meeting in Shanghai.
The world’s largest and most quickly-growing automobile market has invited the wholeworld to Shanghai. In 2014, about 18.4 million cars were sold in China, and even greater sales figures are expected for 2015. It’s no wonder that the largest automobile trade fair is also growing. In 2013, 280,000 square meters were available to the exhibitors at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). Even though the new venue in the west of the city offers 30 percent more space, it is almost fully booked.
Many returning exhibitors are using the opportunity to expand, but new exhibitors also had the chance to have a presentation area. The new building, which looks like a four-leaf clover from a bird’s-eye view, consists of eight equal-sized halls, most of which are two stories tall. On the ground floor, mostly national and international car manufacturers are presenting their vehicles, while upstairs are suppliers and component manufacturers, like Continental, ZF Friedrichshafen, Magneti Marelli and GKN. Exhibitors from the specialty and luxury vehicle segment are also increasingly represented – a response to the increasing purchasing power of the Chinese.
The halls are high and bright, which in turn offers the exhibitors more area to design and offers the visitor a feeling of spaciousness.
